Are Veneers and Crowns the same thing?

Crowns are recommended when the tooth is broken down, there is a large filling in bad condition, or there is a need to exchange an older existing crown. They cover the entire tooth surface: top, sides, front and back. Veneers cover the front and small portion of the side and back of the front teeth. They are made to improve the shape or shade of the teeth or restore chipped front teeth.

Do veneers ruin your teeth?

Most porcelain  veneers are approximately .5 mm thick ; are strong and durable to resist the forces of mastication. Veneers are considered conservative and safe dental restorations.

How long will I have to wear temporary veneers for?

It takes a couple of weeks for the dental lab to make the veneers, and you will wear temporary veneers for that duration. Once the veneers are ready they will be tried on your teeth to check the shape, color and the fit. They will be bonded to your teeth using veneer bond and cement.

I am worried my veneers will have a black line around the gums?

This is usually   seen with the old technology; metal-based crowns also called porcelain fused to metal. If the gum around the crown recedes the dark line becomes visible.

Porcelain veneers are made of metal free durable material (E-max) and look natural with no dark gum line.
